Get to Know Your Board

Jeff Wilkins, LEED AP

After working for a couple of years in Colorado, Jeff came back to NC State and completed his Masters of Architecture in the spring of 2011, returning to his hometown of Burlington to begin practicing Architecture. He has a strong interest in the creation of unique, specialized details for each project, and he enjoys the challenge of using new and reclaimed building materials. While being committed to the artistic aspects of each design, he recognizes the importance of functionality. Jeff spends much of his spare time helping his father maintain their beef cattle herd while promoting local grass fed beef and sustainable farming practices.

Peter Ustach

Peter Ustach is the owner of Pandora’s Pies in Elon, NC. Born and raised in Beaufort, NC. Peter found his love for the food and beverage industry through multiple small local restaurants. After graduating with a degree in Entrepreneurship from Elon University in 2009, he became a partner of The Fat Frogg and opened Pandora’s Pies, a small local gourmet pizza pub. Peter now calls Elon his home.

Jackie Harrell

Jackie Harrell is a lifelong resident of Burlington, being one of the Touloupas family (of Zack’s Hotdogs), and therefore has an interest in the revitalization of downtown Burlington. After graduating from the UNC School of Pharmacy, she has practiced in independent, locally owned pharmacies. For the past 13 years, Edgewood Pharmacy has been her place of employment. Home brewing has become a hobby and interest of hers and she is an active member with East of Elon Home Brewing Cooperative. She has served on the Board of Directors for the Alamance County Health Department, and is currently on the Advisory Board for Alamap and is a member of the Asthma Coalition. Jackie and her husband, Craig, have three grown children.

T. Scott Fowler

T. Scott Fowler is a CPA and the CFO of Unichem, Inc., a specialty chemical manufacturing company in Haw River. Prior to that, he was a partner in the local firm of STOUT STUART McGOWEN & KING LLP where his customers consisted primarily of small businesses situated in and around Alamance County. He moved to Burlington in 1994 and has remained active in the community since arriving. While currently residing in Greensboro with his wife Lisa and their dog Lilly, he hopes to make Burlington his home again as soon as Lisa locates local employment.

Hal Vincent

Hal Vincent is a professor of strategic communications and the director of the student advertising and public relations firm Live Oak Communications at Elon University. He has worked in marketing communications for nearly 20 years for Tropicana, Nabisco, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau. A native of Tennessee, he’s been a lover of quality beer since the day he discovered Sierra Nevada and Anchor Steam on the grocery shelves on his 21st birthday, or thereabouts. Working at advertising and PR agencies, and teaching in New York City, Philadelphia and Tampa, he is a fairly new transplant to Alamance Country. He is excited to see Downtown Burlington become a destination for community gathering and the cultural arts. Not to mention, a lively place to find a locally sourced burger paired with seasonal ale.

Sebastian Wolfrum

Sebastian Wolfrum previously served as the Director of Brewing Operations at the Natty Greene’s Brewing Company in Greensboro, NC and is currently the principal of Epiphany Craft Malt, a producer of malted grain products. Born and raised in Germany, he earned his certification as a brewer & maltster at the Ayinger Brewery outside of Munich in 1999 and added a certificate in distilling in 2012. As a founding member of the NC Craft Brewers Guild in 2008, Sebastian is very involved in the affairs of the small brewers in this state. Furthermore, he is engaged at the national level with the Brewers Association by serving on the Brewpub Committee. Sebastian lives with his wife and their twins in Durham, NC.

Sharon Dent

Sharon Dent is a commercial paralegal at Pittman & Steele, PLLC. She previously served on the Board of Directors of Company Shops Market, and currently serves on other local boards, and is excited to be a part of another local venture that will enhance the progress made by our community to revitalize downtown Burlington with interesting, local businesses.

Eric Henry

Eric Henry, President of TS Designs, has been in the screen printing and apparel business for over 30 years and lived in Alamance County over 50 years. TS Designs vision is to provide the highest quality and most sustainable t-shirts to the market. Winning the Sustainability Champion award from Sustainable North Carolina in 2009. Eric devotes much of his time to furthering the sustainable agenda in various community organizations. He founded the Burlington Biodiesel Co-op in 2001 and has run his car on biodiesel (or straight vegetable oil) that now has over 250k miles on it. He, along with Charlie Sydnor and Sam Moore, founded Company Shops Market, a co-op grocery in downtown Burlington that reconnects local agriculture to Alamance County. He serves on the board of NC GreenPower, an organization that purchases and resells renewable energy, and the Burlington Downtown Corporation. He has served on the board of Alamance County Chamber of Commerce, Specialty Graphic Imaging Association where he was the chairman in 2002, and Elon University Environmental Science and Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.
